Our speaker will be Shannon McCoy and she will be speaking about Christ Centered Sisterhood.
Shannon is a Biblical Counselor certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and has a Master of Arts degree in Biblical Counseling (MABC) from The Master’s University. She’s the author of Help! I’m A Slave to Food and contributing author to Women Counseling Women. She is a retreat and conference speaker. She serves on the Counsel Board and is a contributing blogger for the Biblical Counseling Coalition.
Raised in South Carolina, Shannon graduated from the College of Charleston with a BA in Biology and the Medical University of South Carolina with a BS in Cytotechnology. She works as a Cytotechnologist (screening pap smears under a microscope) for a medical laboratory.
In her “free” time, she enjoys weekend getaways and nature walks. She likes reading Christian books and having coffee shop talks with friends. She cherishes Friday movie nights with her busy college-aged daughter.
Shannon is passionate about Jesus Christ and all that He offers for every believer. Through counseling, writing and speaking, she enjoys helping others not only to grow stronger in their relationship with Christ but to thrive.
At her church, she has the privilege to come alongside women and couples applying the hope of the gospel in difficult seasons of life.
Shannon will be bringing us 4 messages during the retreat. The theme of this year’s retreat is: Christ Centered Sisterhood!
Full weekend includes lodging for two nights in private rooms that sleep 4-5 people and meals through Sunday lunch (dinner not included Friday evening).
We offer a Saturday only option that includes lunch and dinner.
Once again this year we are offering 4 scholarships for first-time full weekend attendees.
These will be available on a first come, first served basis.
Please indicate your request for a scholarship when you register and pay your deposit. If your request is accepted, the scholarship will cover your remaining balance. If you need financial assistance we strongly encourage you to contact your church diaconal board.
Please check the directions carefully or you can look it up at campmaranatharetreat.com. Camp check-in is from 5:00pm to 7:00pm in the Big Pine Lodge. The first meeting is scheduled to begin at 7:00pm. Friday night dinner is not included with camp, but there are several local restaurants you may enjoy in Idyllwild.
what to bring
Casual warm clothes – expect variable weather conditions, bedding (sleeping bag or sheets & blankets, and pillow), towel, toiletries, Bible, flashlight for the bonfire, and a coffee mug. Feel free to bring some munchies for the snack table.
Talent night is on Saturday evening. Start planning a skit or some special music now! Please consider, “whatever, you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.” Col 3:17
Bring a few extra dollars to cover costs if you are interested in participating in the craft or bring in your own handwork to work on.
Book table supplied by YOU! Bring some of your gently used books with you and take home something different. All genres welcomed whether they are theology, fiction, history, practical, cookbooks, children’s books, etc. The more variety you bring, the more everyone will have to choose from. And if you don’t have your own library yet, you can still take home some books, just bring a few dollars to purchase them for $1 each. (We do ask you to take back home with you any of your books that didn’t get adopted during the weekend). Bring some of your books you’ve enjoyed to exchange with others. Bring them when you register on Friday night so we can set up the book tables.
On Sunday Morning, Pastor Dave Crum will bring us the message in our morning worship service!
